[Installing Starcraft I from SCII USB Stick]

I bought Starcraft II Wings of Liberty Collector's edition quite some time ago but only recently wanted to install Starcraft I that came on the Raynor's dog tag USB stick included in the SC II box. However, the problem was that I copied the contents of the stick onto my machine when I bought the game and formatted the USB drive in order to use it - well as a USB drive. When I wanted to install SC I from my hard-drive, the registration code was nowhere to be found.

After searching on forums, I realised that the code was tied to the USB drive somehow and is only pre-filled if the installation is ran from it. A member of Blizzard support wrote to me that because I formatted my USB stick, I wouldn't be able to install the game.

Fortunately, despite the fact that the stick was formatted a number of times before, I copied the original installation files back onto it and it worked! So, if Blizzard support comes back to you with panicking messages, pay no attention, just copy the SC I installation files back. Also, register your key on the Blizzard web site just in case. This should allow you to download SC I without having to rely on the USB drive.
