[Blizzard finally gone mad!]

Games Added on 08/11/2013

That's it - the artists and developers at Blizzard have finally gone mad to bring us Heores of the Storm - a game that puts all heroes from your favourite Blizzard games like Starcraft, Wacraft and Diablo together.

While I am still Beta testing the newest Blizzard game Hearstone, I got drawn to the web site of their new game - Heroes of the Storm. The cinematic video is epic. I am a huge fan of not only Blizzard games but also the books that accompany them, so to see Jim Raynor fight Diablo really got me excited.

The gameplay itself looks kind of like Diablo or some Warcraft III missions - viewed from the top, you control your hero, have some special abilities and defeat your opponents. However, those opponents are other players and you get to play in a team. Seems like a response to games like League of Legends or Dota 2 that let's face it - exist thanks to Warcraft III.

With Hearstone and Heroes of the Storm underway, it looks like Blizzard is trying to go back to its good old days of creating small fun games. With experienced people behind them. Or have they run out of ideas and are unable to create a compltely new, independent game franchise? I guess time will tell. I personally can't wait to see how they will take the MOBA genre of hero fighting and levelling up and (hopefully) put something new into it. I'm signing up for Beta testing now!

Stardust Colonies Web Site Is Launched!

I have finally launched web site for my strategy game Stardust Colonies. Unlike in most strategy games, you get to control minions who have their job preferences and will behave differently based on what you tell them to do. Also, you don't train units in buildings but clone existing ones, which I think feels more natural to the player...

A Quest for a Better PC

Since Starcraft II : Heart of the Swarm and the new Simcity are soon to be released, I have decided to finally upgrade my PC. I decided to go crazy and ordered the AMD FX 8350 (yes, it's an 8-core processor!) and 16GB RAM to support the madness. Of course getting it running took much more effort that I could have guessed.

Why Do Big Companies Get Lazy?

Perhaps unlike many who advocate open-source and free knowledge, I am also pro big corporations. Not because of their often centralised way of operation (which I find somewhat limited), but because people in those corporation must have worked hard to get where they are. Companies like Apple, Microsoft or Blizzard...

pyCreeper

The main purpose of pyCreeper is to wrap tens of lines of python code, required to produce graphs that look good for a publication, into functions. It takes away your need to understand various quirks of matplotlib and gives you back ready-to-use and well-documented code.
